Grant Funding
Numerous sources of capital grant funding and financial assistance are available for wood heating projects. We have outline some of these programmes below, should you require any assistance in identifying funding, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Scotish Communities and Householder Renewables Initiative (SCHRI) / Clear Skies
Highland Wood Energy are accredited installers under the ‘Clear Skies’ funding programme, providing funding in Scotland through the Scottish Communities and Householder Renewables Initiative.
All heating systems supplied by Highland Wood Energy are also accredited under this scheme.
Funding is available for householders and community groups for the installation of wood heating systems and the undertaking of feasibility studies.
Wood Fuel development programme
Scheme runs in partnership with Forestry Commission Scotland, providing grant funding for the installation of wood heating systems in business premises and towards equipment used for the development of wood fuel supply chains in designated ‘cluster areas’ within the Highland area

Loan Action Scotland
Funded through the Scottish Executive through the Scottish Energy Efficiency Office. Provides interest free loans up to £50,000 to businesses towards the upgrading of heating systems.
Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA) scheme
Enables businesses to claim 100% first year capital allowances on qualifying wood heating equipment.
Farm Business Development Scheme
The Farm Business Development Scheme provides a maximum of 50% (or £25K) for farming families in Scotland. Can apply to farmers wishing to diversify into wood fuel production.
